description
The IOIBD Annual General Meeting 2024, held April 11-13 in Florence at the Grand Hotel Baglioni, was a high-profile scientific and social event for the international community dedicated to chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Organized by Materia Prima, the event combined a rich scientific program with unique social experiences, offering participants the opportunity to catch up on the latest innovations and immerse themselves in Florentine culture.
During the meeting, world-renowned experts explored key topics such as patient stratification, the role of the microbiome, advances in advanced imaging, and new drug development. Sessions included Cluster Break Outs, thematic symposia and the New Member Lectures, enhanced by interactive moments with discussion panels. The event concluded with sessions devoted to precision medicine, comorbidities, and new frontiers in the management of IBD.
The social program added an exclusive touch to the experience. The opening evening was held at the Grand Hotel Baglioni’s panoramic B-Roof restaurant, where participants enjoyed breathtaking views of Florence’s monuments. The day on April 12 was enhanced by a private visit to the famous Uffizi Gallery, followed by the official dinner at the sumptuous Palazzo Borghese, an iconic example of neoclassical architecture.
On April 13, the event integrated sports and convivial activities. The day began with the IOIBD Fun Run, a 5-kilometer run led by professional coaches. The evening concluded with a gala dinner at the fine Citrarium restaurant, located in the renovated greenhouses of Villa Le Fontanelle. The location, overlooking Florence, offered an immersive experience among natural elements and fine materials, creating a unique and intimate atmosphere to greet guests.
